Brazilian air force receives first Phenom 100EVs

Brazil’s air force has received a pair of Embraer Phenom 100EV light business jets for use by its 6th air transport squadron.

Designated the U-100 in Brazilian service, the two aircraft were handed over in a ceremony in THE capital, Brasilia, on 23 October.

“With every take-off of our U-100, hope is building for a thriving, modern and active air force equipped with a transport aircraft designed to set new performance standards in its class,” says the air force commander, Lieutenant Brigadier Antonio Carlos Moretti Bermudez.

The 6th air transport squadron handles over 40% of the air force’s transport of organs and medical transplantation teams and the new jets will allow the unit to grow its operations.

Although Embraer remains Brazil’s aerospace champion, the Phenom 100EV is built at a facility in Melbourne, Florida. The EV is the latest iteration of the aiframer's entry-level jet and features higher-thrust versions of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617 engine and a Garmin G3000-based digital cockpit.
