Delta Air Lines will join its joint venture partner Aeromexico flying between Los Angeles and Mexico City in December, returning to the market it dropped more than a decade ago.

The Atlanta-based SkyTeam Alliance carrier will offer one daily flight with a 132-seat Airbus A319 in the market, it says today. The airline dropped Los Angeles-Mexico City flights in 2005.

Aeromexico and Delta will offer a combined seven daily flights on the crowded route with the latter's new flight.

American Airlines, Interjet, United Airlines and Volaris also fly between Los Angeles and Mexico City, and Alaska Airlines plans to begin service in August.

Delta and Aeromexico launched their transborder joint venture in May.
