The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has ordered a single Airbus Helicopters H215, with the rotorcraft to be delivered in 2020.

The deal sees the Tokyo police become the first Japanese operator of the H215, says Airbus Helicopters.

The helicopter will be delivered prior to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where it will be used for the transport of VIPs, materials, and other support missions.

“We are honoured by the Metropolitan Police Department’s renewed confidence in us with this new order of the H215, and especially delighted that this highly efficient helicopter will join the rest of Airbus’ helicopters in supporting one of the world’s largest police air corps," says Olivier tiller, managing director of Airbus Helicopters Japan.

"More importantly, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our customer for close to 30 years by now, and for many more year to come as the Airbus Helicopters team in Japan continues to ensure the fullest support."
