The Philippine Air Force has ordered a single Gulfstream G280 private jet that will be used for command and control missions.
After its configuration is complete the aircraft will be delivered in 2020. The contract was placed with Gulfstream via the US government, says the airframer.
“The G280’s unmatched performance combined with the backup of our world-renowned customer support makes it an agile and reliable platform for the Philippine Air Force,” says Gulfstream president Mark Burns.
“With more than 70 speed records and the ability to operate at steep-approach airports, the G280 can perform a variety of challenging missions.”
No contract value was given. Media reports from the Philippines suggest one mission for the new jet will transporting president Rodrigo Duterte.
The deal includes parts, tooling and contractor logistics.
