PICTURES: Saudia welcomes first 787-10 to fleet

Saudia has marked the delivery of its first Boeing 787-10 with a ceremony at its base at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International airport.

The GE Aviation GEnx-1B-powered 787-10, which joins Saudia's existing fleet of 13 GEnx-powered 787-9s, will play a key role in the airline's fleet and network expansion, it says.

"The 787-10 variant... will further support future network growth plans," says Saudia director general Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

According to Cirium fleets data, only one 787-10 has been confirmed for Saudia so far. However, chief executive Jaan Albrecht, told FlightGlobal earlier this year the airline planned to introduce three 787-10s in 2019 and a further seven in 2020.
