Saudia reportedly to acquire 35 more aircraft

Saudi Arabian Airlines is intending to acquire another 35 aircraft under a further fleet-expansion programme, its chief has reportedly said.

It follows a renewal programme covering 90 aircraft, including 50 Airbus A320-family jets and 12 A330s, plus 20 Boeing 777s and eight 787s.

Director-general Khalid Al-Molhem is quoted by Arab News as saying that the airline, which is rebranding as Saudia, has received 68 of the 90 new aircraft and is “planning to buy 35 more”.

Al-Molhem has not identified types involved or delivery dates, and has not indicated whether further details might be disclosed at the Dubai air show in November.
