The Airbus Military A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) has made its debut in Singapore, with a Royal Air Force A330 Voyager aircraft visiting the air show.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) is viewed as strong candidate for a tanker upgrade - the RSAF now operates the antiquated Boeing KC-135 in the tanker role. At December's LIMA air show at Langkawi in Malaysia, sources said an RSAF delegation expressed considerable interest in the type.

The A330 MRTT is also favoured to win a competition against the Ilyushin IL-78MK for a six-tanker deal in India. The aircraft is likely to go up against the Boeing 767-based KC-46 if Singapore conducts a competition for a new tanker.
