Eurocopter has launched Asia Pacific's first AS365 N3/N3+ Dauphin full motion simulator and signed a deal with South Vietnam Helicopter for a fourth EC225.
The AS365 simulator is located at Eurocopter's Southeast Asia training centre in Singapore's Seletar Aerospace Park.
In addition, Eurocopter Southeast Asia (ESEA) received certification from Eurocopter to provide the maintenance, repair and overhaul services for Dauphin family helicopters.
"Both these programmes will place ESEA in a position to offer operators of the Dauphin fleet in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions with a full suite of support and services, from training to major inspections and heavy structural repairs," said Eurocopter in a statement.
Eurocopter made the announcement at its Seletar site during the Singapore Airshow 2012.
"The selection of ESEA as a regional hub reflects our ability to provide state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise," said ESEA president Bernhard Brenner.
"Our investment and focus on specialized services, such as full-flight simulator training, design office work, and development of technical solutions, have put us in good stead to meet future challenges in the wider Asian market," Brenner added.
Eucocopter is rapidly increasing its simulator footprint in Asia Pacific. The AS365 simulator in Singapore will be Eurocopter's 17th full flight simulator globally.
This year, the firm will add an EC225/725 simulator in Malaysia and an EC225 simulator in China. In 2013, it is planning for two more simulators, an EC135 simulator in Japan and an EC155 simulator in China.
Additionally, Eurocopter hosted a signing ceremony during the Singapore Airshow for South Vietnam Helicopter Corporation's fourth EC225.
The oil and gas firm will use the 19-passenger EC225 in the offshore support mission. In addition, Vietnamese training school VNH Helicopter signed a deal for a single EC120, which will be used as a training aircraft.
