HANOVER SHOW Bristol Siddeley Pegasus lift-thrust ducted fan A. Brenner, Euckenstrasse 2, Munich 25, West Germany. As German and Austrian agent for Aero- mere of Trento, Italy, Brenner are exhibiting the Falco F8L and Superfalco CAR3 two-seat aerobatic and sporting aircraft, exceptionally attractive machines offering excellent perfor- mance on a Lycoming 150 h.p. engine, superb finish and distinctive appearance. Used ia combination with pure lift engines, the Pegasus can provide at its most economical throttle setting all the propulsive thrust necessary for conventional flight and, at take-off and land- ing, contribute its maximum thrust to meet the VTOL requirement. A turbojet in the highest thrust class, the Olympus powers all marks of Avro Vulcan bomber. A supersonic version, the Olympus 22R, has been chosen to power the British Aircraft Corporation's TSR.2, the new tactical - strike/reconnaissance aircraft on order for the British Royal Air Force; a civil derivative of . this engine—the Olympus Mark 593—is being developed in collaboration with the French aero-engine manufacturers, SNECMA, for the Anglo-French Concord supersonic airliner. ; Orpheus engines have already flown in ten different aircraft types excluding flying test . beds. Most powerful production version is the Orpheus 803 of 5,0001b thrust, which powers ? the Fiat G-91. The Viper 20 is a development of the Viper 11. It powers the Hawker Siddeley 125 and - has also been specified for the Piaggio-Dougla* 808 Vespa-Jet executive aircraft. The principal difference between the two engines is that the . Viper 20 incorporates an additional stage on the front of the compressor. The Viper 11 powers the Macchi MB 326 and is manufac- tured under licence in Italy by Piaggio & C. All Hunting Jet Provost trainer aircraft and Jindivik target drones are fitted with Vipers • Gnome HI200 turboshaft engines are in quantity production for the British Ministry of Aviation and are to be the standard power unit for all the Westland Whirlwinds of the Royal Air Force now in service in the Far East, Middle East and Germany as well as in the United Kingdom. Gnome engines also power the Italian Agusta Bell 204B ten-seat general purpose helicopters and have, in addition, been fitted to the twin-engined Vertol 107 helicopters of the Swedish armed forces; They are also specified for the large three- engined Agusta 101G and the Westland SR.N3 and SR.N5 Hovercraft. The Coupled Gnome is in production for the Westland Wessex Mk 2, and the similar Wessex Mk 5 Commando helicopter for the Royal Navy.
