FLIGHT International, 14 February 1974 THIRD-LEVEL AIRLINES Aztec, three Cessna 180 (aircraft are operated on wheels, skis or floats). BFD-Bayerischer Flugdienst GmbH pro vides scheduled passenger flights with Twin Otters between Munich, Bayreuth, Hof, Frankfurt, Innsbruck (Austria) and Zurich (Switzerland). The airline was formed in 1970 and also offers executive charter services within Europe and sightseeing excursions over the Alps. Blackhawk Airways Inc is a Wisconsin-based air-taxi operator which flies scheduled all-cargo services. Route points served are Burlington and Cedar Rapids/Iowa City (Indiana), Preoria and Chicago-O'Hare (Illinois). Head Office: PO Box 7, Janesville, Wis consin 53543, USA. Fleet: Twin Beech 18. Boise Air Service (Boise Aviation Inc) operates scheduled air-mail routes in Idaho and to Salt Lake City, Utah. Points served in Idaho are Twin Falls, Boise and Pocatello. Bon-ego Springs Airline was certificated for scheduled commuter operations in November 1968 and currently provides connections between Borrego Springs, Palm Springs and San Diego, all in Cali fornia. Borneo Skyways (Miri) Sdn Bhd was formed in 1969 to serve the interior divisions of Sarawak. Present activities include a regular local freight service, aerial survey work and movement of tourist parties. The company is now a member of the Hutchison Group which also owns Hong Kong Air International Ltd. Head Office: Park Hotel, Miri, Sara wak. Fleet: One Pilatus Porter, one Cessna 185. Brower Airways Inc, a part of Brower Flight Service, operates daily scheduled commuter flights serving Ottumwa and Keokuk (Iowa), and Macomb and Chicago-O'Hare (Illinois). Brymon Airways (Brymon Aviation Ltd) began operating third-level ser vices in the summer of 1972 on a seasonal basis between the Scilly Isles, Newquay (optional stop), Plymouth and Jersey. Services are now provided all- the-year round with Britten-Norman Islanders over the routes Plymouth- Jersey, Plymouth - Morlaix (France), Exeter - Scilly Isles and Newquay - Ply mouth. Cities served include Flint, Jackson, Lansing, Saginaw and Traverse City (Michigan), Pittsburgh, Dubois, Harrisburg and Bradford (Pennsyl vania), Greenboro' (North Carolina), Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and South Bend (Indiana) and Toledo (Ohio). Buffalo Aeronautical Corporation is authorised to fly regular scheduled air mail services to a number of points in New York state. Operations are based at Greater Buffalo International Airport. Burnett Airways Pty Ltd provides regu lar scheduled flights within the coastal area north of Brisbane, serving Gayn-dah, Monto, Thangool, Theodore, Rock- hampton, Bundaberg and Brisbane. Bush Pilots Airways Ltd (BPA) was formed in June 1951 and began charter operations that same year with light aircraft. Scheduled passenger services were added in August 1957 and these now serve 121 towns, stations and com munities in northern Queensland, centred around Cairns, Townsville and Mount Isa. Services reach as far north as Bamaga (Cape York Peninsula), westwards to Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and to Windorah in the south. BPA also operates station services for Connair in the Northern Territory from Mount Isa, and the Dunk Island service under contract to TAA. Head Office: Aeroglen, Cairns, Queens land 4870, Australia. Fleet: Five Douglas DC-3, one BN-2A Islander, five Cessna 402B, two Cessna 402, one Cessna 310K, one Cessna 310L, two Cessna 210K, one Cessna 210L. Business Jets Pty Ltd was formed in February 1966 to operate executive charters with a Dassault Fan Jet Fal con. Scheduled commuter services were begun in January 1971 and these now link Melbourne with the coastal towns of Warrnambool and Portland, and northwards with Swan Hill, on the border with New South Wales. Calm Air Ltd operates regular sched uled passenger services with Twin Otters within Manitoba, serving Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids, South Indian Lake and Thompson. Fleet: Three DHC-6 Twin Otter, one DHG2 Beaver, one Beech 3N, three Cessna 185, one Cessna 180H, one Cessna 172B, two Found FBA2C. Canadian Voyager Airlines Ltd main tains scheduled third-level services in association with Transair Ltd, between International Falls Municipal Airport and Kenora, Dryden and Red Lake, all in Ontario. Dryden is served thrice- daily, Kenora and Red Lake once. The company is also authorised to operate charters out of Fort Frances. Head Office: PO Box 507, Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. Fleet: One Beech D18S, two DHC-2 Beaver, one Cessna 402, one Cessna 180A, one Piper Apache. Capitol Air Service Inc was certificated in October 1966 to operate third-level 205 services from its base at Manhattan Municipal Airport to Topeka (Kansas) and Kansas City (Missouri). Eighteen daily flights are now flown between these cities using Cessna 207 aircraft. Charter and air-taxi work is also pro vided. Head Office: Municipal Airport, Man hattan, Kansas 66502, USA. Caribbean Air Services Inc, known until 1969 as Virgin Island Airways, was formed in 1962 as an air-taxi company. Extensive scheduled cargo services are now operated in the British and US Virgin Islands between St Lucia, Tor- tola, Virgin Gorda and St Croix. Haiti is also served from St Lucia. In 1972 the company was number One cargo car rier in the commuter industry. Head Office: PO Box 164, Kingshill, St Croix, US Virgin Islands 00850. Caribbean Island Airlines operates daily (except on Sundays) scheduled com muter services between St Thomas (US Virgin Islands) and San Juan (Puerto Rico). Caribbean United Airlines Ltd, until March 1, 1973 known as Arawak Air lines Ltd, was formed in 1969 to take over BWIA's shuttle service between Trinidad and Tobago with Beech 99s. This service has since been extended to the island of Grenada, and will shortly be further increased to Bar bados on a daily basis. CUA also operates charter flights to most Carib bean islands and to Guyana and Suri nam. Head Office: 33 Abercromby Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Fleet: Three Fairchild-Hiller FH-227B. Cascade Airways Inc provides frequent scheduled services in Washington state over the routes Spokane-Yakima-Seattle (Boeing Field), Spokane-Pullman-Walla Walla - Seattle, Wenatchee - Seattle and Spokane - Pasco - Portland (Oregon). The carrier also has authority to carry air mail on all flights between these cities. Head Office: PO Box 19207, Spokane International Airport, Spokane, Wash ington 99219, USA. Fleet: Four Beech 99A. Caspair Ltd is a subsidiary of Safari Air Services Ltd, both companies being owned by Multi Aviation Ltd of Uganda since March 1972. Frequent scheduled passenger services are operated within Kenya linking Nairobi/Embakasi with Kericho, K i s u m u, Eldoret, Kitali, Nakuru, Lake Rudolf, Garissa and Hola. Some of the Nairobi routes extend across the borders to Mwanza (Tan zania) and Juba (Sudan). The Malindi-Lamu service was added when Caspair acquired Tic Charters Ltd of Malindi. Caspair was formed soon after WW II and originally provided charter services along the shoreline of Lake Victoria. Head Office: 5th Floor, Commercial Bank of Africa Building, Nairobi, Kenya. Catalina Seaplanes Inc, also known as Air Catalina, operates scheduled com muter services from San Pedro and Long Beach, California to Catalina Island in Avalon Bay.
