FLIGHT International, 4 September 1976 679 KEEPING YOU IN CONTROL Electronic engine controls for gas turbines—that's our business. For over thirty years UEL have been designing and manufacturing electronic engine control systems for the world's finest aircraft. Like Concorde, for example, where the Olympus 593 engine is controlled entirely by our electronic "fly by wire" system, or the Hawk whose Adour engine uses a speed and temperature control supplied by UEL, and the Spey engine where the engine mounted unit controls Inlet Guide Vane position and exhaust gas temperature. Our hybrid programmable control system has been in use on the major vehicle gas turbine programmes for the past two years and is entering service on industrial machines this year. It is currently being packaged for aerospace use. Programmable digital controls based on micro-processors are also under development for aerospace applications. For further information contact...
