Okanagan Helicopters, founded in 1947, is the largest helicopter operator in Canada and, together with its wholly owned subsidiaries, one of the largest in the world. Olympic Airways was founded in April 1957, when Aristotle Onassis took over TAE-Greek National' Airlines (founded in 1951 through a merger of TAEJ~J Hellas and Aero Metafora Ellados, and nationalised in 1954). Onassis' 50-year concession gave him a sole^* designation as national airline and a monopoly on domestic routes. However, Onassis withdrew in< December 1974, following heavy losses, and the. airline was grounded pending reorganisation.
