Delta Air Lines has named former Bombardier chief executive Alain Bellemare to be its new President-International, the carrier says.
Bellemare, who retired from Bombardier last year, will relocate from Montreal to Atlanta, and lead the company’s international operations, Delta says on 13 January. He will report directly to chief executive Ed Bastian.
Prior to his time at the Canadian airframer, Bellemare also spent 18 years at UTC, parent of engine-maker Pratt & Whitney, the Atlanta-based carrier says.
”With deep international experience running multi-billion-dollar aerospace organizations, Alain will lead our portfolio of international investments – working closely with our partners as they recover from the pandemic. Alain’s goal will be to ensure Delta and our partners emerge as stronger and more resilient global brands,” Bastian adds.
In addition, the airline will add Michelle Horn, a former partner at management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, as its new chief strategy officer. She is tapped to ”build a roadmap in line with our future vision,” he says.
“Alain and Michelle will complement Delta’s already-deep leadership team, which has positioned our airline to accelerate our recovery and further our position as the trusted global brand within our industry,” he adds.
Delta will report its results for the fourth quarter on 14 January, kicking off the airlines’ year-end earnings reporting season.
