Odyssey milestone
Odyssey Telecommunications has secured its first service provider in China Telecommunications, Chinasat. The $3.2 billion mobile-communications satellite system will begin operating in 2001. Iridium, ICO and Globalstar all aim to launch rival spacecraft sooner, however. The 12-satellite Odyssey system is led by TRW.
