Airbus will end the year with gross orders for more than 1,000 aircraft, parent company EADS has forecast.

But it is maintaining its delivery estimate for 2011 at 520-530 jets.

EADS gave the figure as its presented the company's half-year financial results today.

Airbus secured orders for 777 aircraft in the six months to 30 June, with a net figure of 640 after cancellations, lifted by take-up of its A320neo family.
