British Airways' MRO arm, BA Engineering, is offering its Boeing 787 and Airbus A380 technical training programmes to third-party customers.

The maintenance provider has trained its technicians in a dedicated, computer-based classroom for the 787 at London Heathrow airport. The facility was set up by L-3 Communications' UK simulation unit in accordance with Boeing's specifications.

The first third-party training course for 787 B1 (airframe) and B2 (avionics and electrics) technicians is to begin in June, with a respective programme for the A380 to follow later in 2013.

The 787 course takes 35 days and can accommodate up to 16 trainees.
