Liberty Aerospace is to deliver the first customer-owned XL-2 piston singles this month, having built five of the two-seat aircraft as company demonstrators. The Melbourne, Florida-based company has orders for 60 aircraft and production is sold out for the next eight months, says Liberty president and co-founder Tony Tiarks. He adds that Liberty is holding talks with Garmin on offering the G1000 flightdeck as an option. Liberty is stepping up its US sales effort, Tiarks adds. A sales office has been opened in Santa Monica, where a demonstrator is also based. A Dallas sales outlet will be inaugurated within four weeks.
