American Airlines and El Al plan to resume codesharing on flights to Tel Aviv from 31 March.

Fort Worth-based American will place its code on the Israeli flag carrier's flights between Tel Aviv and Barcelona, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, New York John F. Kennedy, Newark, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome and Zurich, according to a regulatory filing released on 30 January.

The carriers had sought a blanket unlimited codeshare in December 2011 but were only allowed a limited codeshare due to Israel having a category 2 safety rating from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The country was upgraded to category 1 on 1 November 2012.

American and El Al were granted codesharing authority in March 2008.
