More than 30 performance-boosting elliptical winglets are now installed on Cessna Citation Xs worldwide, the supplier announced on 13 May.

Supplemental type certificate-bearer Winglet Technology also updated the performance figures after installing the retrofit. For pre-172 serial number aircraft, elliptical winglets increase range by 315nm (585km) and 120kg (265lb) compared with standard Citation Xs, Winglet Technology said. The retrofit also assumes incorporating the 181kg gross weight increase service bulletin.

Top speed of the Citation X at high altitude, already a sporty Mach 0.92 (977km/h), also rises by 12kt at international standard atmosphere (ISA) temperatures, Winglet Technology said.

Nearly all of the elliptical winglet retrofits to date have been completed at Cessna's Wichita Service Center, with the 30th kit installed since the STC was granted in July 2009, Winglet Technology said.

But the upgrade is available at all Cessna-owned services, and an undisclosed number of kits have been installed at the Orlando and San Antonio facilities, the company added.

Last year, Cessna announced Winglet Technology will supply the elliptical wingtip aerofoils for the updated production version of the jet rebranded as the Citation Ten.
