Singapore Airlines (SIA) has taken the wraps off the new cabin products on board its new Airbus A380 fleet in conjunction with today’s delivery of the first A380.

SIA revealed in September configuration details for its A380, including a “Suites” class consisting of 12 seats in the nose of the main deck. First pictures of the “Suites” class, which SIA considers “a class beyond first”, are shown here.

The “Suites” class consist of 10 private cabins, eight singles and two doubles, behind sliding doors. Inside each private cabin are 35in-wide leather seats that convert into 1.98m-long single beds and, in two cases, double beds.

When not in the sleeping position, passengers can work or dine on a large table or watch movies from a 23-in wide LCD screen. Companion seats are provided in all the cabins as are personal coat closets.

“Developed with our most valued and distinguished customers in mind, the concept of the Singapore Airlines Suites is nothing less than ground-breaking in the luxury travel market,” says SIA senior vice president product and services Yap Kim Wah.

The business and economy class seats on board the A380 are not as revolutionary.

These seats are similar to what SIA introduced late last year on its new Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

SIA’s A380 has 60 business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration in the upper deck. There are 399 economy class seats spread over both decks with a 3-4-3 configuration downstairs and a 2-4-2 configuration upstairs.

Airbus today handed over in Toulouse the first of the 19 A380s SIA has on order. The aircraft will be flown to Singapore tomorrow and operate its first commercial flight, to Sydney, on 25 October.
