Anyone passing the PATS Aircraft Systems stand at NBAA on 18 November may have done a second take. The Delaware-based maintenance, repair and overhaul specialist may be the first company ever to rebrand during a show.
When visitors left the convention hall at the close of the first day, booth 7037 carried the signage of the almost 40-year-old PATS. When they arrived the next day, they were greeted with a new brand: Aloft AeroArchitects.
The new name was officially unveiled at a press conference on the 18th.
“We just thought it would be a fun thing to do to rebrand mid-show,” says Matt Hill, vice president business development.
PATS began as Patrick’s Aircraft Technical Services – specialising initially in installing auxiliary fuel tanks before branching into cabin completions and avionics refits – but has been known by the acronym PATS for many years.
It says the new name is “the result of a detailed market positioning study, resulting in recommendations for PATS to best align its go-to-market branding with the reality of what’s happening in PATS’ business today and the strategic outlook for its future”.
