Canadian Airlines has revamped its image with a new name, new uniforms and a new stylised "Canada goose" logo. The Calgary-based carrier has dropped the word "International" from its name in an effort to promote its domestic services, and the new livery features more bare metal so as to more closely resemble the scheme of its alliance partner, and shareholder, American Airlines. This rebranding comes some 11 years since the last livery change, which occurred in 1987 when PWA Corp, parent of Pacific Western Airlines, bought CPAir and merged the two to form Canadian Airlines International. The goose was first used in 1929 by the airline's predecessor and dropped in 1968. The redesign is part of an ongoing makeover which will include new uniforms for its 16,000 employees, improved food service, new seats, and new routes.
