Bombardier has expanded its service network in China through a partnership with maintenance, repair and overhaul firm Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Company (STAECO), and is looking to do the same elsewhere in other Chinese cities.

The airframer has authorised STAECO to provide maintenance services for its Challenger 604 and 605 aircraft, says its president for customer services James Hoblyn.

STAECO is already an authorised service facility for Bombardier's CRJ aircraft. Bombardier hopes to expand its partnership with STAECO in the next two years to cover more aircraft types like the rest of the Challenger family and the Global Express, says Hoblyn.

Bombardier is also in talks with other MRO providers in other Chinese cities to offer something similar, he adds.

"We are working on solutions in Beijing and Shanghai. The plan is to have something similar in these two cities and Jinan and perhaps another Chinese city," says Hoblyn.

While Hoblyn declines to comment on specific MRO firms that Bombardier is in talks with, he expects the airframer to make more announcements in the year ahead.

Bombardier expects to invest almost $500,000 in ground support equipment and add at least 15 technicians to boost its maintenance network in mainland China by the end of this year.
