Airbus is to conduct the maiden flight of its re-engined A320neo jet on 25 September.

The test aircraft, fitted with Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, will depart from Toulouse at 10:30.

Airbus chief operating officer for customers John Leahy confirmed the plan at the ISTAT conference in Istanbul, adding that the flight was subject to good weather conditions.

The A320neo will also have the option of CFM International Leap-1A powerplants.

Over 3,000 A320neo-family jets have been ordered since the type was launched towards the end of 2010.
