Air France relocated its London/Heathrow-Strasbourg service to London/City on 27 October, and began codesharing with Finnair on three daily Paris/Charles de Gaulle-Helsinki flights. Jersey European Airways is oper-ating franchise services for Air France on Paris/CDG- Birmingham-Glasgow. Air France has launched a new twice weekly Paris/CDG-Newcastle service in a franchise deal with Gill Airways. Brit Air is operating Air France franchise services from London/Gatwick to Brest, Caen, Le Havre, Nantes and Rennes, and from Paris/CDG to Southampton.

BritishAirways was due to introduce twice weekly services from London/Heathrow to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and from London/Gatwick to Entebbe and Dar es Salaam, in November. Airline Management Ltd will operate from Gatwick to Cancun, Puerto Plata and Tobago on a wet-lease basis for BA next year.

British Airways franchisee British Regional Airlines has introduced the Embraer EMB.145 on services from Southampton to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast, and has moved its Inverness services from Heathrow to Gatwick.

Deutsche BA was due to commence a Munich-Frankfurt service on 24 November.

Malaysia Airlines and Swissair started a thrice-weekly Zurich-Kuala Lumpur joint flight in October. Delta Air Lines is due to codeshare on Swissair's daily Zurich-Cairo service from December.

Delta Air Lines is due to start codesharing with Sabena between Brussels and Kampala and Entebbe in December.

Air UK is due to introduce daily flights from Sheffield City to Amsterdam in February 1998.

Alitalia is to operate five flights a week from London/City to Milan/Linate, from November. The flights will initially be operated under an agreement with Bergamo-based Azzurra Air.

KLM has launched two weekly flights from Amsterdam to Sapporo and Nagoya.

United Airlines is due to start twice weekly services from New York/JFK to San Juan, Puerto Rico this December.

Emirates was due to start twice weekly operations from Dubai to Dar es Salaam, in October.

Sabena was due to introduce twice weekly services from Brussels to Bangkok and Phuket in October.

Royal Brunei Airlines was due to launch twice weekly services between Brunei and Surabaya, East Java in November.

Ryanair launched new services from London/Stansted to Oslo/Torp and from Dublin to Teesside in November.

Finnair began twice-weekly operations from Helsinki to Madrid via Barcelona in October.

Air Engiadina started three weekly flights from Vienna to London/City via Berne in October.

Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand started codesharing on services from Singapore to Christchurch and Auckland in October.

Lufthansa and British Midland have extended their codeshare agreement from London/Heathrow via Cologne/Bonn on to Dresden.

Continental Airlines and Virgin Atlantic are to start codesharing on 2 February, on services from London/Heathrow to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Washington/Dulles, New York/Newark and New York/JFK; between London/Gatwick and Newark, Boston and Orlando; and between Manchester and Orlando.

Continental Airlines and EVA Air are to codeshare on services from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Newark and Honolulu to Taipei and 14 destinations in southeast Asia, pending government approval. Continental has just started codesharing with China Airlines from Houston to Taipei via San Francisco.

Continental Airlines is due to start new services from New York/Newark to Rio de Janeiro, Guatemala City, San Salvador and San José, Costa Rica; from Mexico City to Guatemela City; from Los Angeles to San Salvador; and from San Diego to Mexico City in December.

Lufthansa CityLine has taken over the three weekly London/City to Frankfurt service formerly operated by Business Air.

American Airlines and Asiana Airlines are due to begin their codesharing and frequent flyer agreement on 20 November, pending government approval.

Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air and Tyrolean Airways have integrated their air cargo networks as Austrian Airlines Group - Cargo.

United Parcel Services opened a new European hub at Diegem, outside Brussels, on 2 October in addition to its existing Cologne/Bonn facility.

Virgin Atlantic plans to introduce a London-Las Vegas services in 1998, pending government approval.
