Orlando Sanford Airport has begun expanding its terminal building. The $25 million expansion will add a two-storey terminal facility of more than 11,150m² (120,000ft²) and will increase the airport's annual capacity by 3 million passengers when completed by February next year. Nice Cote d'Azur Airport is to spend almost Fr1 billion ($167 million) on improvements to increase capacity to 12 million passengers a year. A new, 37,000m² terminal, able to accommodate 4 million passengers, will be completed by spring 2003. The parking area will also be increased and a new zone created for aircraft with fewer than 50 seats. The airport handled 8.7 million passengers last year, a rise of 7.1%, making it the second busiest airport behind Paris Charles de Gaulle. Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport has completed its terminal development plan with the opening of the north west concourse. This adds 11 more airbridges, bringing the total to 48, and boosts annual capacity to 45 million passengers. Traffic at Paris' two main airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, rose by 8.4% last year, handling 69 million passengers between them. Traffic at Orly rose by 1.6%, to 24.5 million passengers, while that at Charles de Gaulle jumped by almost 13%, to 43.6 million. Cargo traffic rose by 5.8% overall, to 1.36 million tonnes. The oneworld alliance has awarded UK-based Servisair a major three-year ground handling contract at Stockholm Arlanda. The contract provides services to American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair and Iberia, handling a total of 246 flights a week. Servisair has also assumed responsibility for Norwegian airline Braathens' non-alliance third-party ground handling contracts at Oslo Gardermoen. The Civil Aviation Administration of China has awarded Harris a contract to provide air traffic control systems to Xiaoshan International Airport, which is now under construction.
