Ramiz plans US carrier
Nelson Ramiz, chief executive and owner of Venezuelan carrier Aeropostal, plans to launch a new US carrier tentatively named ufly Airways. The carrier plans to offer vacation packages from Miami to Aruba, Colombia, Curacao, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. Ramiz recently acquired bankrupt charter carrier Falcon Air Express and will use its certificate to launch ufly later this year with Boeing MD-80s.

ACE sells maintenance unit
ACE has agreed to sell 70% of Air Canada Technical Services (ACTS) for C$680 million ($645 million) to private investment firm Sageview Capital and buyout specialists Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter. Grupo Taca now has the right to buy 5% of ACTS for C$51 million.
