Antonov has the first four customers for its 80-seat An-148 regional jet, it was disclosed at the show yesterday.

The latest letter of intent is for 12 aircraft from Kras Air, with the formal order due to be signed in September, said Alexander Kiva, Antonov ASTC.

"Also in September, we will sign a contract with Aerosvit Airlines for 10 aircraft," he said.

Pulkovo Airlines of St Petersburg has also signed a letter of intent for 10 aircraft, with Volga-Dniepr committed to taking three.

First flight and the start of the certification programme is scheduled to start in September with the first deliveries next year.

Kiva said that between three and five aircraft will be built in 2005, rising to 15 in 2006 and 30 a year from 2007 onwards. The aircraft has a range of 5,100km (3,100 miles).
