Australia's fast-growing Curry-Kenny Aviation Group has purchased Western Australia's largest privately owned aviation company, Slingair Heliwork.
Slingair Heliwork, which is based in Kununurra in far north Western Australia, operates more than 40 fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, including Cessna 206s, 207s, 208s, 210s, 310s, Piper Chieftains, Piper Navajos, Bell 206s, Bell 47s and Robinson R22s and R44s. The company, which was established by Kerry Slingsby in 1984 as a helicopter mustering business, operates charter and tourism flights throughout the Kimberley region of Wstern Australia.
Following the purchase Queensland-based Curry-Kenny Aviation will become the country's largest private aviation operator. The group, which was established by two former Australian Olympians, already operates a 40-plus aircraft fleet in eastern Australia on tourist flights, charters and flight training. The group's businesses include Caloundra-based flight training school Chopperline Flight Training, which was acquired last year and which recently added an R22, R44, Bell JetRanger and Cessna 172 to its fleet. Slingair Heliworks is a "valuable addition" to the Curry-Kenny Aviation Group, says Grant Kenny.
