Bangkok Airways has cancelled an order for an ATR 72-500 and has delayed the delivery of its Airbus aircraft on order.
"We postponed delivery of the Airbus A319 from November this year to March 2011," the Thai carrier's senior VP of marketing, Peter Wiesner, says from Bangkok.
Wiesner adds that it has cancelled the order for its last ATR which was originally supposed to be delivered in November.
He also says around October and November of this year Bangkok Airways is returning its last two Boeing 717s and in 2011 it has two Airbus A320s that are leaving the fleet.
Today Bangkok Airways has a fleet of 21 aircraft comprising of three A320s, seven A319s, nine ATRs and two 717s.
"It is a good decision going to 19 aircraft" in light of the current global economic downturn, he says.
To help generate more traffic Bangkok Airways has been signing codeshare agreements with foreign carriers.
Wiesner says in October Bangkok Airways will start codesharing with KLM and LTU Air Berlin.
He also says on the 25 October Bangkok Airways will add a fifth daily service on the Bangkok-Phuket route and will resume flights on the Bangkok-Krabi route with a daily service.
