■ The US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command has awarded Civil Reserve Air Fleet contracts worth more than $2.3 billion for fiscal year 2007. The North American Airlines/Evergreen International Airlines Alliance Contractor Team and a Federal Express Team comprising Air Transport International and Atlas Worldwide Holdings each secured just over $1 billion. Additional recipients include Continental Airlines, Lynden Air Cargo, Miami Air International and UPS.

■ Ultra Electronics’ Sonar and Communication Systems business is to provide the UK Royal Air Force with additional Rafael Litening III targeting pods to equip part of its Panavia Tornado GR4 fleet. The £10.4 million ($19.5 million) order builds on an earlier £56 million deal to integrate Litening III sensors with the RAF’s Eurofighter Typhoons.

■ Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $455 million US Air Force contract for the Lot 6 production of 48 F119 engines for the Lockheed Martin F-22 fighter by December 2006.

■ Raytheon has received an $11 million contract to provide system test equipment for the AN/APG-79 active electronically-scanned array radars which will equip the US Navy’s Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters and EA-18G Growler electronic-attack aircraft.

■ The Royal Australian Air Force has awarded Tasman Aviation Enterprises an A$90 million ($67.6 million) contract to support the TF30 engines which power its General Dynamics F-111 strike aircraft. Work is expected to continue until June 2010.

■ L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace has received a $49.3 million contract to provide continued logistics support for the US Navy’s North American T-2 Buckeye and T-39 Sabreliner trainers and Sikorsky H-3 Sea King helicopters until September 2007. The company will also support the service’s Bell TH-57B/C Sea Rangers for the next year under a separate deal worth $37.7 million.

■ Lear Siegler Services has received a one-year contract worth $29.4 million to maintain Northrop T-37 and T-38A/C aircraft at the US Air Force’s Sheppard AFB in Texas.
