Elbit Systems president and chief executive Joseph Ackerman will retire on 1 April 2013 after 16 years at the helm of the company which, under his stewardship, has become Israel's largest defence firm.
Ackerman joined Haifa-based Elbit in 1982 and has served in various managerial positions.
He will be succeeded by Bezalel Machlis (above), who joined Elbit in 1991. For the past eight years, Machlis has been executive vice-president and general manager of Elbit's Land and C4I division.
