Airbus has named Didier Evrard - previously in charge of product lines at missile manufacturer MBDA - as A350 XWB programme head.

Evrard has led the MBDA product lines directorate and MBDA France since 2002. Born in 1953, Evrard joined Matra in 1977 as a test engineer. Over the next 20 years he held various multinational project management positions. Between 1998 and 2002 he was Matra BAe Dynamics stand-off programme director, with responsibility for the multinational Storm Shadow/Scalp missile programme.

The A350 programme had been co-ordinated by Airbus executive vice-president strategy Olivier Andries.

"Didier Evrard brings proven leadership and programme development management capabilities in combination with an understanding of customer needs and business objectives," says Airbus chief executive Louis Gallois.
