Mapping out airbase management

ESRI UK (Hall 3, B26) can provide airbase managers with a single computerised view of the entire airfield, encompassing all infrastructure, maintenance and operations. ESRI supplies geographic information systems (GIS) that bring together maps and other information into a single computer-based model. Richard Gould of ESRI (UK), previously the former CO of a major RAF operational airbase, says: “An airbase can be managed more effectively with greater control and co-ordination of resources.”


Toulouse testing takeover

Bodycote Materials Testing (Hall 4, F8) has made its first venture into France with the acquisition of Centech, an independent materials testing laboratory based in Toulouse. “Centech has an excellent reputation for quality, integrity and technical expertise and its acquisition will further enhance Bodycote’s profile in Europe,” says Sean Kerr, Bodycote managing director for Europe.


Atlantic overhaul expansion

Atlantic Turbines International (ATI), a subsidiary of Vector Aerospace Corporation (Hall 4, A11), has expanded and extended its Pratt & Whitney Canada designated overhaul facility, adding new variants to the PW100 and PT6A turboprop engine models. These include the PW127M and four PT6A variants: -52, -66B, -66D and -67P.


Promoting the aerial ‘Olympics’

Torino Piemonte Aerospace (Hall 1, C20A) is promoting next year’s World Air Games, the ‘Olympics’ of air sports. Held at Aeritalia Airport in Turin and on the Avigliana lakes and in Mondovi, the event includes all air sports, from motorised aerobatics and gliding to helicopters, parachuting and hot air ballooning. Organised by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), 100 hundred nations will take part between June 6-13, 2009.


Lightweight autothrottle for G650

MPC Products (Hall 2, B13) is introducing its next-generation high-performance, lightweight fly-by-wire autothrottle systems, which will be used on the new Gulfstream G650. The autothrottle provides additional capabilities such as health status monitoring and a flexible aircraft interface to allow the NGA to be moved easily across aircraft platforms.
