Airliner net orders came in at 71 in April as 78 new orders were offset by 7 cancellations, with another 11 swaps.
Argentina’s Austral Lineas Aereas ordered 17 Embraer 190s while Canada’s Jazz Air ordered 15 Bombardier Dash 8s. Cebu Pacific Air placed an order for seven Airbus A320s while FedEx ordered four Boeing 777s. US Airways swapped three A319s and six A320s for nine A321s while Austria’s Niki swapped two A320s for the A321 variant.
Boeing totalled 34 new orders in April while Bombardier followed with 18. Embraer received 17 orders and Airbus only nine.
A total of 34 777 and two A330 orders were placed during the month, while in the narrowbody market, only seven A320s were ordered. In the regional market, a total of 17 190s and three CRJs were placed.
Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended April at 7,811, down 30 on the previous month.
