Airliner net orders came in at 347 in July, a very high figure directly associated to the Farnborough International Airshow where strong transaction activities traditionally occur. Overall, 401 new orders were offset by 54 cancellations with another two swaps.

GECAS stands out with substantial narrowbody orders during the month as the leasing company ordered 61 Airbus A320s and 40 Boeing 737s. American Airlines ordered 35 737s, UK’s flybe placed an order for 35 Embraer 175s while Air Lease Corporation ordered 31 A320s. Indonesia’s Kartika Airlines placed an order for 30 Sukhoi Superjet 100s, the first order of 2010 for the Russian regional jet. DAE Capital was responsible for the main cancellations of the month as the leasing company cancelled 18 A320s, 15 Boeing 787s, 10 Boeing 777s and seven Airbus A350s.

Airbus totalled 156 new orders in July, a monthly highest intake since July 2008. Boeing received 129 orders which represents the highest since February 2008. Embraer received 37 orders, ATR 34, Sukoi 30 and Bombardier 15.

In the narrowbody market, orders totalled 253 with 137 A320 family aircraft and 116 737s. Widebody aircraft totalled 32 with 14 A330s, 12 777s, five A350s and a single Boeing 767. In the regional market, Embraer received orders for 35 175s and two 190s. Sukhoi received 30 orders for the Superjet and Bombardier 8 CRJs. The turboprop orders for the month where for 34 ATR72s and seven Dash 8s.

Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended July at 7,695, up 249 on the previous month.
