Airliner net orders came in at 146 for September as 151 new orders were offset by five cancellations, with another 25 swaps.

In the highlight of the month, Russia’s UTAir placed an order for 40 Boeing 737s while Singapore Airlines ordered 15 Airbus A330s. Taiwan’s Uni Air ordered 10 ATR72s while Lufthansa ordered five Embraer 195s, four Airbus A320s, two A380s and a single A330. Aviation Capital Group swapped 11 A320s for 10 A321s and one A319 while Jet Airways’s order for 10 737s were transferred to BOC Aviation.

Boeing totalled 59 new orders in September while Airbus received 30. In the regional market, ATR and Embraer received 57 and five orders respectively.

In the narrowbody market, 40 737s and seven A320 family aircraft were placed. The widebody orders in the month were for 21 A330s, 19 777s and two A380s. In the regional sector, the orders were for 51 ATR51s, six ATR42s and five 195s.

Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended September at 8,959, up 51 on the previous month.
