Germany's Haitec Aircraft Maintenance has been certificated by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

The Hahn-based MRO provider had been planning to gain the approval for "a while" and chief executive Frank Rott says it should generate "noteworthy growth" for the business both at its main site and a separate business jet facility in Erfurt.

Aside from its European certificate, Haitec has won repair station approvals from the civil aviation authorities of Azerbaijan, Bermuda, Qatar, Russia and the UAE.

Earlier this year, it started work on the first Airbus A320 passenger-to-freighter conversion under a programme led by US engineering and asset management firm Pacific Aviation & Lease Management.
