Finnair has opted to have the International Aero Engines V2500s equipping some of its Airbus A321s serviced by the powerplant manufacturer.

IAE has been awarded an exclusive, 12-year hour-based support contract covering the engines powering five A321s, says the consortium's largest shareholder Pratt & Whitney.

Finnair selected the V2500 for its latest A321s, but the carrier's A319s, A320s and older A321s are powered by CFM International CFM56s. These engines – alongside the CFM56s fitted to Finnair's A340s – are supported by Swiss MRO specialist SR Technics.

The Nordic carrier's fleet comprises nine A319s, 10 A320s, 11 A321s, eight General Electric CF6-equipped A330s and seven A340-300s, Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows.

The first four of 19 on-order A350s are to be delivered to Finnair this year. Rolls-Royce's Trent XWB engine is the only powerplant available for that type.
