Austrian Airlines and Canadian carrier Air Transat have joined a growing list of customers for The IMS Company's RAVE seat-centric in-flight entertainment system.

A total ten Austrian aircraft - four Boeing 777s and six 767s - will be retrofitted with RAVE. Every seat in the two-class configuration of Austrian's 777s and 767s will have a RAVE screen, said IMS.

Air Transat, meanwhile, has chosen its RAVE for its fleet of 12 A330 aircraft.

Financial terms of the deals have not been disclosed.

Several other airlines have selected RAVE for their aircraft, including Air Berlin, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and SriLankan Airlines.

IMS said RAVE improves upon traditional in-flight entertainment systems by leveraging the best attributes of traditional audio/video on demand systems with the characteristics of portable-player IFE. The concept is gaining considerable traction in the industry, it noted.
