Flush of success with new loo

Boeing is introducing a new lavatory for its Next-Generation 737 which is designed to be more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for passengers and easier for airlines to maintain.

A 737-700 recently delivered to China Southern Airlines is the first to carry the new loo.

Reflecting passenger and airline suggestions, the lavatory features a seat and lid damper, which slows the closure of the seat and lid and prevents slamming, a gently-curved composite countertop that holds a larger stainless steel sink, and an adjustable temperature-controlled tap that can be operated with one hand.

China leases from GECAS

Shanghai Airlines should next week be taking the second of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft it has leased this year from GE Capital Services (GECAS)

In addition, GECAS has also announced it will lease two Bombardier CRJ-200s to Shanghai Airlines. The aircraft are currently on lease with Duo Airways (formerly Maersk Air, UK) and will be delivered to Shanghai Airlines in June and December of 2004.

Since 1988, GECAS has placed more than 130 aircraft on lease in China with 17 different airlines.
