Turkish Airlines (THY) has named Candan Karlitekin as its new chief executive, replacing Abdurrahman Gundogdu who will remain as general manager with the carrier. Karlitekin was on the THY board last year and has worked in the Turkish government's planning department.

State-owned Biman Bangladesh Airlines has named Akhtar Hussain Khan its new managing director, replacing Mohammad Liaqat Ali who left after just three months in the job. Akhtar, director-general of Bangladesh's social welfare directorate, is a career public servant.

Malaysian cargo carrier Transmile Group has appointed the country's former minister for transport Ling Liong Sik chairman following an ownership revamp. Ling replaces Gan Boon Aun, who has retained his role as chief executive. The changes followed an ownership revamp that saw Hong Kong's Kuok Group acquiring a sizeable minority shareholding.

Venezuela has picked Dalila Montserrat to head Conviasa, the new state-owned airline that plans its launch in July. Montserrat is Venezuela's vice-minister of tourism. Conviasa is designed to replace the country's flag carrier Viasa, which folded seven years ago.
