India's Delhi International airport has selected aviation services provider Shaurya Aeronautics to set up a fixed base operation at the site.

Shaurya, which was awarded the licence in April, is now operating out of the airport's general aviation lounge at Terminal 1D. It also has bases in Kolkata, Manali and Trivandrum. From its New Delhi FBO, it is offering services such as ground handling, passenger services, maintenance support, lease and purchase of aircraft and helicopters and spare parts, says Shaurya's assistant operations manager Bhavna Sheel.

Shaurya is certificated to carry out maintenance work on various fixed-wing aircraft types and helicopters, such as the Bell 430 and 206 helicopters, Beechcraft King Air C90A twin turboprop and Beechcraft 400 business jet. The company hopes its FBO will fill a gap for general aviation facilities in India.

"We wanted to bring the FBO concept to India. Indian aviation has seen tremendous growth in the past five years but this was missing in the general aviation category," says Sheel.

Among its Indian clients so far are charter operators GMR Aviation, Taj Air and Pinnacle Air. Its international clients include Dassault Aviation and Tag Aviation Asia.
