Dutch carrier KLM's UK engineering operation has extended its line maintenance capabilities to Embraer 170/190 aircraft.

The company is to begin servicing the larger 190 for KLM's regional division Cityhopper, adding that they will be supported in Norwich, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

KLM UK Engineering, which has a base maintenance centre in Norwich, already handles Fokker 70/100 jets and Fokker 50 turboprops, as well as Boeing 737s and BAE Systems Avro aircraft.

"It's clear that the Embraer range is seen as a natural successor tot he Fokker and Avro regional jets already in our portfolio," says KLM UK Engineering sales manager Paul Conway, who describes the new capability as a "logical step".
