India’s Kingfisher Airlines has agreed to purchase up to 50 Airbus aircraft including 15 A350-800s, ten A330-200s, five A340-500s and 20 A320-family jets.
Five of the A350s are conversions from the Mumbai-based airline’s original order for A350s placed before Airbus redesigned the twin-jet last year.
The carrier signed a memorandum of understanding with the airframer at the Paris air show today.
While no engine selection has been disclosed, Rolls-Royce Trent XWBs are the only powerplants available on the A350 while all A340-500s are equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 500s.
Kingfisher opted for Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines for five previously-ordered A330s, while all its Airbus narrowbodies have International Aero Engines V2500 powerplants.
