The rapidly growing market for business jets in Latin America will be the next sales focus for Cleveland-based Nextant Aerospace.

Demand for the Nextant 400XTI in North America and Europe caught the company's management by surprise, says Jay Heublien, vice-president for global sales and marketing.

As a result, the company has not shipped any aircraft nor received any orders from Latin American countries despite making a debut appearance at LABACE 2012, he says.

Nextant intends to overcome that omission in 2014, he says, and is in discussions with two companies to serve as a local sales representative in Brazil.

The company is in talks with more than 30 potential customers for the re-engined and upgraded Hawker 400.

Meanwhile, the company is continuing to study options for remanufacturing other business aircraft. A decision could be announced at the NBAA show in October, Heublien says.
