International Wings Group set out its ambitions at the show yesterday to expand its portfolio of maintenance bases and approvals in the Middle East through joint-venture partnerships with established MRO providers.
IWG's subsidiary Arab Wings, based in Amman, Jordan, already provides aircraft-on-ground line maintenance approval for Bombardier's large-cabin Challenger 604/605s, but the company is keen to expand this offering to other types and manufacturers.
Talks are under way with a number of undisclosed companies and IWG hopes to sign the first agreement next year. "Arab Wings and sister company Gulf Wings of Dubai manage 21 business jets from across the manufacturer spectrum," says Gulf Wings chief executive Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh.
"We plan to increase this fleet to 30 aircraft within in the next two years and we would like to offer our customers a breadth of maintenance services and approvals to meet their demands," he adds. "The first venture should be in place by 2014."
