Meggitt Avionics has introduced a digital flight control system (DFCS) for retrofit to twin-turboprops. The Magic 2100 DFCS is a three-axis autopilot based on Mineral Wells, Texas-based Meggitt's air data, attitude and heading reference system (ADAHRS). The solid-state ADAHRS is the heart of the company's Magic electronic flight instrument system (EFIS).

Features include an altitude pre-selector and airspeed hold function, voice annunciator and liquid-crystal display. The 2100 is a panel-mounted system, and the company plans to launch a more capable remote-mounted version within nine months.

Meggitt is working on several twin-turboprop retrofit programmes, beginning with the Rockwell Commander 690. The Magic flat-panel EFIS is already certificated in the Commander. The company is also planning to certificate the EFIS, Magic engine instrument display system and DFCS in the Cessna Conquest II, Fairchild Merlin, Piper Cheyenne and the Raytheon King Air 90.
