There is no evidence that either occupant of a Piper PA-44 from Lufthansa's InterCockpit training school survived after the aircraft crashed into the Adriatic Sea.

The Croatian ministry of transport says a Croatian instructor and an Italian student were on board the twin-engined aircraft - registered D-GZXB - when it went missing after departing InterCockpit's Zadar airport base on 1 August.

Croatia's ministry of defence says a naval minesweeper crew sighted wreckage at 01:15 on 3 August and that, by 09:25, underwater cameras confirmed the Piper had been found. Search teams had concentrated on an area of the Adriatic south-west of Mezanj, an island about 30km west of Zadar, and along the coast of Dugi Otok. The sea depth in the area is about 60-70m (200-230ft).

No information has been disclosed regarding the circumstances of the accident.
