Osaka's Kansai International airport has announced that it will build a low-cost terminal.
The one-storey terminal will have an area of 30,000m², will be to handle four million passengers annually and has room for expansion, said an airport spokeswoman. It expects to complete construction by "autumn 2012".
Its apron will be able to accommodate nine aircraft of the Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 class.
The airport operator was unable to reveal the cost of the construction as it is "still determining the details".
Japanese low-cost start-up Peach Aviation will use the terminal.
"It [the terminal] is also available [for use by] other LCCs," added the spokeswoman.
